Warranty Policy
Effective Date: August 6, 2026

Used Transmission Dealer stands behind every pre-owned transmission assembly we sell with a Limited Warranty. This policy outlines the coverage terms, conditions, limits, and required installation standards for all warranty claims.
1. Warranty Period & Coverage Scope
- Standard Coverage: Every used transmission is backed by a 60- to 180-day Limited Warranty (or as stated on your official invoice), beginning on the date of delivery.
- Covered Components: Coverage applies to the internal mechanical components of the transmission assembly — internal gears, shafts, bearings, oil pump, internal clutches, and the transmission housing/case against cracks or structural defects present prior to installation.
2. Installation Requirements (Required for Warranty Eligibility)
Transmissions are precision mechanical and electronic units. To keep your warranty valid, installation must be performed by a Certified ASE Mechanic or a licensed auto repair facility, and the following must be fully documented on the shop’s work order:
- Fluid Flush: The transmission fluid cooler and cooler lines must be professionally flushed to remove metallic debris and contamination from the prior transmission failure.
- Torque Converter Seating: For automatic transmissions, the torque converter must be fully seated into the front pump before the transmission is bolted to the engine block. Improper seating damages the front pump and voids coverage.
- Filter & Gasket Replacement: A new transmission filter, pan gasket, and front/rear main shaft seals must be installed prior to installation.
- Correct Fluid Type: Fill exclusively with OEM-specified fluid (Dexron, Mercon, CVT fluid, or the specific synthetic fluid required by your vehicle manufacturer).
- Computer Reset / Re-Learn: Transmission adaptation values must be reset and TCM re-learn programming completed using a diagnostic scan tool.
3. What’s Not Covered
Your warranty is void under any of the following:
- External Accessories & Electronics: Sensors, solenoids, wiring harnesses, TCMs, neutral safety switches, manual shifters, shift cables, and external cooler lines (included for installation convenience only) are not covered.
- Improper Installation Damage: Broken bellhousings, damaged pump gears from incorrect torque converter seating, stripped threads, or damage from incorrect fluid levels or fluid type.
- Overheating or Contaminated Fluid: Burnt clutch plates, milky/contaminated fluid (coolant mixed with transmission oil), or thermal damage from blocked cooler lines.
- Labor & Consequential Charges: Installation/removal labor, towing, storage fees, rental car costs, lost wages, and diagnostic fees are non-refundable and excluded from coverage.
- Unauthorized Modifications: Opening the transmission case, disassembling internal components, or making modifications without prior written authorization from Used Transmission Dealer.
4. How to File a Warranty Claim
If you suspect a mechanical failure during your warranty period:
- Stop Driving: Discontinue vehicle operation immediately to prevent further damage.
- Submit Documentation: Email support@usedtransmissiondealer.com with your order number, VIN, an itemized invoice from a certified mechanic, and any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
- Review & Resolution: Our technical claims team will review your documentation. If approved, we will either:
- Provide a replacement part or replacement transmission assembly, or
- Authorize a local repair up to a pre-approved amount, or
- Issue a refund upon return and inspection of the defective unit at our facility.
